Structural Inspection

Structural inspection during construction is very crucial as majority of structural components are not visible once the construction of any projects complete. A structural inspection is an objective visual examination of the physical structure and foundation of building by professional engineer.

Structural Inspection is intended to evaluate the condition of the evident foundation performance, roof, and structure of the building in order to provide information related to their condition and an opinion as to whether they are in need of repair.

The scope of Inspections includes visual observations of those portions of foundations, roof and structural components readily visible without moving or removing items causing visual obstructions.

We have experienced engineers to carry out the structural inspection at different stages of construction for compliance and structural adequacy of the proposed work.

Need of structural Inspection

  • To safeguard the construction work is conducted as per the design documents
  • To confirm structural adequacy of the structures as per building construction practice and compliance
  • To identify the building defects during different stages
  • When there are cracks in the foundation or walls special inspection is needed
  • When there is bowing or sagging on the walls or roof, then we require structural inspection.
  • When there is concern about structural integrity of building or wall, structural inspection is needed

Structural Engineer is the experienced and licensed professionals who are trained to analyze the elemental factors that exert force upon a home and its attached components such as retaining walls, garages and building additions and make the call about whether or not the structure can hold up and resist those forces.

Our Structural Engineering inspection at Fusion Engineering offers an inspection of the structural components of the home and buildings and other constructions. Our structural inspectors are licensed, professional and skilled engineers. Engineers provide you the plan of repair in order to get the system or component and in order to obtain best repairs on structures.

Dilapidation Report

Dilapidation report is carried out if and when any building works like excavation, construction etc are carried out in the adjoining property.

This is done to ensure that the condition of the subject building before the construction work is same as the condition of the building on completion of construction work at the adjoining/neighbouring building

It includes a detailed report, photographic evidences etc for record purpose. Our report is valid and accepted by relevant regulatory authorities

Oftenly a dilapidation report gets mistaken as building defect report, but it is not, it is not carried out to identify the actual defect of the building. A defect report is a separate and more detailed (with additional scope) scope of work.

Forensic Structural Investigation

Our scope of Forensic Structural Engineering ranges from analysing the root cause of failure of any structural component and building materials/products used on site to establishing relation between geotechnical and structural component.

Engineering investigation and determination of the causes of structures failures of buildings, bridges, and other constructed facilities, as well as rendering opinions and giving testimony in judicial proceedings, often referred as Forensic Structural Engineering. Due to rapid economic development, increased designs sophistication, more and more daring construction technology and accelerated projects delivery come the proliferation of structures failures throughout the world.

It is the investigation of materials, products, structures or components that fails or do not operate as intended, causing personal injury or damage to property. It also deals with retracing processes and procedures leading to accidents in operation of vehicles or machinery.

  • Have you noticed any failures or cracks on your building?
  • Are you looking to find cause/causes of structural failures?
  • Are you looking for structural inspection report prepared by a forensic structural engineer?
  • Are you in any legal battle regarding insurance or liability relating to structural failure of your building?
If your answer is 'yes' to any of above, then you are in the right place. We promise to deliver above service to your satisfaction.   Benefits of Forensic Structural Investigation:
  • One of the benefits of forensic investigations is the lessons learned from failures and the use of those lessons to improve codes, standards, and practices to avoid similar failures in the future.
  • A purpose of concentration is not only to teach forensic investigations of failures and understanding some of the pertinent legal aspects, and to prepare them for the eventual practice of forensic structural engineering.
  • Forensic engineering investigation is to locate cause or causes of failure with a view to improve performance or life of component, or to assist a court in determining the facts of accidents.
  • It also involves in investigation of intellectual claims, especially patents.
  Our capabilities
  • Forensic Building Report
  • Structural Inspection Report
  • Structural Adequacy Report
  • House and garage slab crack analysis and report

Forensic  engineering involves in methods applied to specific materials, such as metals, glasses, composites and polymers. In the context of Forensic Investigation, civil engineers have the knowledge and expertise to determine the root cause of such incidents such as air, land and water pollution; ground settlement; building collapses; and construction issues.

From the initial inspection through the conclusion of an investigation, Fusion Engineering is poised to respond quickly, effectively and completely to our clients in any matter.

Crack Inspection

There are many organizations to offer building inspection by a building inspector however the service we provide to building structural inspection/Crack inspection is second to none. In Fusion, we not only specify cracks on our report, we provide expert opinion as all the inspections are conducted by a qualified engineer not a builder/building surveyor. The engineers identify structural defects including but not limited to settlement and heave of the foundation, unstable walls, defective structural members/products etc.

Crack Inspection Analysis:
  • For ensuring the safe operation of damaged or cracked tolerant structure, inspection schedule are devised. They are based on many criteria, including:
  • assumed damaged or cracked condition of the structure
  • Stresses in the structure that cause crack growth from the damaged condition
  • geometry of the material which intensifies or reduces stress on the crack tip
  • ability of the material to withstand cracking due to stresses in the expected environment
  • Largest crack size that the structure can endure before catastrophic failure
  • likelihood that a particular inspection method will reveal a crack
  • acceptable level of risk that a certain structure will be completely failed
  • expected duration after manufacture until a detectable crack will form
  • assumptions of failure in adjacent components which may have the effect of changing stresses in the structure of interest
  Types of Cracks:
  • Structural Crack: These cracks results from incorrect design, faulty construction or overloading and these may endanger the safety of a building and their inmates.
  • Non Structural Cracks: Non Structural cracks occur mostly due to internally induced stresses in building materials. These cracks normally do not endanger the safety but may look unsightly, create an impression of faulty work or give a feeling of instability.
  We provide following services:
  • Residential cracks inspection and report
  • Dilapidation report
  • Building structural report
  • Building condition assessment report
  • Structural health monitoring
